Lecture: “Stephen Decatur and the Formation of the Navy” by Robert

Allison, author of Stephen Decatur: American Naval Hero, 1779-1820. He

will discuss the life and legacy of Decatur, the youngest man ever to be

appointed Captain in the U.S. Navy. Decatur's legendary roles in the

war against Tripoli (1801-1805) and in the War of 1812 were crucial to

the young nation's well-being; his relationship with Robert Fulton led

to the development of the world's first steam-powered warship; his years

as administrator of the peace-time Navy and his understanding of

American politics and culture were crucial to the Navy's survival. He

will be available to autograph copies of his book.

3.) Software Engineering – Real-Time 3D Modeling, Acuity Technologies, Menlo

Park, CA

We have an opening for a software engineer developing software for

real-time shape reconstruction. This position will include construction

of 3D models from multiple images and integrating these capabilities

into products for high-speed object position and orientation

measurement. You will be using new techniques in projective geometry to

determine relative motion between cameras and the objects and scenes in

view. This software will be used with both passive video and active

laser projection systems. Applications include wind tunnel model

position, orientation, and deformation measurement, structural vibration

and strain analysis, unmanned aircraft navigation, and products for

manufacturing process control.

Requirements

Candidates should have experience with several of:

Image and video processing tools and techniques

Projective geometry and multiview stereo reconstruction

Solid model and surface representation data structures

Optimizing processing algorithms for video rate execution on

multiprocessor systems

OpenGL or DirectX programming

UDP, TCP/IP communications

Visual C/C++ and Matlab development environments

A Master's or Doctorate in CS or a related discipline is required, along

6.) C3 Architect, Joint Personnel Recovery Agency (JPRA), MTC Technologies, Ft Belvoir, VA

C3 network/architecture support for Joint Personnel Recovery Agency (JPRA) J9. Provides a broad range of subject matter expertise (SME) involving Personnel Recovery (PR) operations, communications and C2 connectivity into the Global C2 architecture, and project management support to the JPRA J9 in the conduct of demonstrations, evaluations, and assessments. Assist the J9 and provide technical advice and analysis in the resolution and management of a wide range of C4ISR technical issues involving capabilities, integration and fielding initiatives, and advanced communications and C2 technology concepts. Support J9 tasks by drafting project management plans for Government approval and maintaining them throughout the life of demonstrations, evaluations, and assessments. Current PR tasks include communications, network architecture, and C2-related projects. Experience – External:

Ten years experience with Military Forces with significant portions associated with Personnel Recovery (PR). Ability to develop and execute strategic plans and policy, determine requirements and needs, investigate and resolve problems, interface with other functions and outside personnel. Experience in PR communications, networks, and C2 architectures highly desired. Knowledge of and experience with the Joint Capabilities Integration Development System (JCIDS) highly desirable. Knowledge of and experience with the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DODAF) highly desirable. Ability to work on complex projects requiring original thinking and new approaches, able to guide, aid, and manage others on a major program, set priorities and ensure that the work products for the group conform to standards. We require a BS degree in Engineering, Mechanical or Nuclear. As an entry level candidate you must have a basic knowledge of engineering principals, methods, and techniques within the specific area of your degree expertise.

You will need to be proficient in Microsoft Office suite programs such as Word and Excel. Experience in the use if Linux based systems is also a benefit.

Candidate should have solid technical writing skills and be able to clearly and concisely present methods, calculations, and results for various engineering analyses.

This position requires good interpersonal, presentation and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with other engineers, project managers, and clients in person or over the phone.

Technical Writer and communications specialist required to assist the government facilitating, coordinating and preparing congressional reports and provide research services for the Coast Guard Acquisition Directorate Office of Strategic Planning and Communications. Tasks include:

Merge all inputs into one report document, ensure consistent flow in the report, edit where necessary and format according to the CG-9 branding directive.

-Perform follow-up with senior leadership, SMEs, program reviewers and stakeholders to ensure report requirements are met prior to established deadlines

-Participate in follow-on meetings with the GAO and Congressional staff to answer any questions on the final report.

Qualifications

Applicant must have a Bachelor's Degree, 2-4 Years of relevant work experience, and knowledgeable in using Microsoft Office Applications. Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. Experienced with Congressional and Legislative Affairs to include providing information and expert recommendations to respond to Congressional, DOD, other Government agency, media or industry inquiries, and audits, and for Congressional testimony.
