Washington Post Media is looking for an Events Manager to help organize

and

manage events for our conferencing division. He/she will focus on

developing relationships, working with clients and vendors to schedule

and maintain

events on behalf of the newly created conferences and events business.

Requirements include:

– Planning and Organizing – skilled at planning, organizing, and

managing

small to large events; proven ability in accomplishing goals and

ensuring

work is completed efficiently; strong problem solving skills, including

the

ability to recognize and analyze problems and implement solutions; a

strong

orientation to detail and accuracy; the ability to multitask and

prioritize

activities; dedication to using time effectively and preventing

irrelevant

issues or distractions from interfering with work completion.

– Developing Collaborative Relationships – proven experience in

establishing rapport; skilled at effectively communicating internally,

externally, and

at all levels; ability to work with teams on projects and strategic

initiatives.

– Customer Focus – skilled at evaluating how actions and plans will

affect

clients; seeks information to understand expectations, problems, and

needs;

responds quickly to meet client needs and resolve problems; implements

effective ways to monitor and evaluate client concerns, issues, and

satisfaction;

– Excellent time management and organizational skills;

– Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills;

– Excellent computer skills required, including proficiency with

PowerPoint

and Excel;

– Minimum 3 years of meeting or events planning experience, preferably

in

the media industry or within a conference business.

Responsibilities include:

– Coordinating conference and event activities to ensure goals and

business

objectives are met;

– Conferring with vendors, clients, and guest to coordinate all of the

materials and details that may impact the conferences and events;

– Researching, recommending, and critically inspecting event facilities

to

ensure they meet the needs of the client, align with the objectives of

the

event, and meet a high standard of quality;

– Creating and maintaining detailed databases and list of all items that

impact conferences and events, such as attendees, guest, registrations,

etc.;

– Creating and maintaining the PL

– Building and maintaining relationships with clients, internal and

external resources;

– Coordinating all services for events, such as transportation,

accommodations, speakers, materials, catering, name tags, communication,

agendas, etc.;

– Collaborating internally and externally to assess client needs and

requirements in order to determine the best logistical course of action;

– Meeting with service providers to discuss the logistics and progress

of

events.
