Can you help me promote the IABC Heritage Conference?
Ned,
The 2012 IABC Heritage Region Conference is scheduled for October
14-16 in Pittsburgh, PA. Remember when you helped me lead the very first conference in Washington, D.C. seven years ago? The conference has really grown and features 18 breakout sessions by national experts in the field; four keynote sessions by world-renowned speakers; a fast-paced interactive extended session on reinventing yourself and the business; a Sunday reception at the eclectic Andy Warhol Museum; and numerous networking opportunities. Can you please let your readers know about this wonderful opportunity that offers something of interest for any business communicator. All at a cost that is significantly less than national conferences or even one-day seminars offered by other leading communication organizations. For more information or to register, visit www.iabcheritageconference.com. It’s going to be a great conference! Thanks.

*** New uses for old ships:
I’m looking out my window at the Hotel Jutlandia at the former ferry Spectrum of Scandinavia. It is now, as I have learned, converted to a disco (although I have not observed any disco balls turning or the sound of Heat wave blasting across the street). But it makes me think of how many ships have been converted to something else after their seagoing days were over. Can you offer some examples? Responses will be posted in the September issue of “Your Very Next Step.”
BTW, the August issue was just posted at www.yourverynextstep.com.

“Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That’s because they were able to connect experiences they’ve had and synthesize new things.”
