Director of Web Communications, NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association), Indianapolis, Indiana

 

Primary Function: This position is responsible for overseeing the strategy, content and design of ncaa.org and assists with managing the relationship with ncaa.com.

 

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

 

1.Lead and advance a comprehensive web communications strategy within an external affairs and strategic communications environment for a national non-profit higher education association.

2.With a focus on issues management and brand advocacy, oversee the content, design and functionality for ncaa.org, the Association’s main administrative website.

3.Function as a primary contact internally and externally to coordinate NCAA-related content on ncaa.com, the Association’s championships website hosted by Turner Sports, in support of the overall NCAA brand.

4.Plan and supervise the creation of video content for the communications group and national office.

5.Coordinate with social media team on strategies involving social platforms and online communications.

6.Coordinate on appropriate business processes for online communications in conjunction with colleagues in information technology and finance.

7.Serve as a member of the Communications Management Team.

8.Other duties as assigned by the managing director of external affairs.

Minimum Requirements and Preferred Qualifications:

 

1.Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred.

2.A minimum of five years experience leading web and online engagement within a strategic communications and issues management context to promote an organization’s brand. This experience preferably will be with a national non-profit association, government agency, major higher education institution or similar organization.

3.High level of editorial leadership and strategic content management required.

4.Demonstrated technical proficiency of relevant communication strategies and software, including knowledge of SEO strategies and techniques.

5.Organizational and team leadership skills essential.

6.Knowledge of intercollegiate athletics and higher education issues highly desirable.

7.Knowledge of NCAA structure and purpose highly desirable.

8.Ability to work under deadline pressure.
