One of the goals of TE Technology is to create a vibrant and fast paced technical community that is excited to learn from and share with one another; a community that can create an advantage for TE because teams are willing and prepared to try ideas because they have seen others be successful at it.The Manager of Communications collaborates with TE’s CTOs, engineering leaders, and Marketing Team to bring their voice to the TE employees, the engineering community, and to external audiences. The individual will be a conduit to the Engineering Organization to identify and research compelling communications to promote TE’s engineering community and innovations. Through effective communications, this individual will create a spirit of collaboration by engaging, motivating and enlisting engineers to share and contribute their ideas. The communications developed by this individual will be used to generate customer interest, drive employee engagement and support a World Class Engineering culture.
TE has a range of engineering collaboration tools, from contact databases to discussion forums and wikis, and Yammer. We believe that a key part of creating a fast moving, creative engineering culture is use of these tools by the engineering community. As part of this role the Manager of Communications will, in collaboration with the engineering teams, create a strategy for these tools based on how they are used today and a vision of how they could be used in the future. |
Responsibilities & Qualifications: |
External Communications
- Collaborates with TE’s CTOs and Marketing team to conceptualize and develop ideas for various internal and external campaigns that highlight TE’s engineering strengths and technology innovations.
- Works with Corporate Communications to develop clear, concise and strategic messaging that promotes TE’s engineering innovations and leaders to support key internal and marketing initiatives that drive business results.
- Works with TE’s Marketing team and engineering community leadership to identify and curate compelling content that can be leveraged for internal and external communications, including social media.
- Works with communications team to write and/or edit content for TE’s social media sites using compelling content to attract key audiences.
- Translates complex material into clear, concise and reader-friendly copy while balancing audience needs and business objectives.
- Manages content review process and ensures approved copy is delivered on schedule.
Executive Communications
- Identifies the key themes and cadence of communications to be communicated to employees.
- Works with Corporate communications to develop effective communication approaches to engage employees with the CTO and his team
- Represents the “voice” of the CTO and select members of the CTO’s leadership team to TE’s broader employee audience.
- Develops communications for the CTO and selected members of CTO’s leadership team.
- Develop strategy for the use of collaboration tools and using Communications, boost the adoption and use of these tools
- “Ghost writes” executive scripts and talking points consistent with an executive’s style and tone.
Employee Communication
- Collaborates with Internal Communications team to develop editorial calendar for the CTO and engineering leadership.
- Identifies, curates, and develops communications to support the editorial calendar for publishing on TE’s intranet and other employee communities.
- Writes articles that reinforce the CTO’s strategy.
- Shares news stories and recognizes people and their projects. Builds people awareness so that engineering networks can grow.
- Increases employee’s understanding of and commitment to Innovation.
- Edits articles and coordinates their publication on various internal communication portals.
Qualifications:
- 8-10 years experience in technology related communications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Engineering or related field.
- Practical experience working with global business and audience.
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Demonstrated leadership competencies such as teamwork, creative problem solving, flexibility and willingness to challenge the status quo.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
