You will be responsible for providing support to the art director and senior graphic designer in four areas:  (1) print materials and digital imaging for marketing, sales, and administrative uses, such as brochures, fliers, newsletters, greeting cards, trade show booth graphics, journal advertisements, and direct mail packages; (2) digital product photography; (3) product packaging, such as labels and display cartons; and (4) audio-visual productions such as Microsoft PowerPoint presentations, webinars, videos, and content for the company website, including animations. Your experience should encompass scanning and color-correcting existing art, creating new art, and typesetting and layout, while working within corporate guidelines to ensure consistency in the company’s image; incorporating changes from the review process; finalizing the digital files; and coordinating handoff of the files to such vendors as printers, magazine art departments, website service providers, etc.

 

To be successful in this position, you must be self-motivated, take direction well, pay close attention to details, have a good sense of humor, and be able to work on multiple assignments simultaneously. Respect for deadlines is imperative.

The primary focus of the senior specialist will be to implement media relations strategies that inform and influence key audiences on Alzheimer’s health and policy issues and promote the Alzheimer’s Association as the leader in Alzheimer’s care, support and research. S/he will also be responsible for producing material for media, respond to media requests, and proactively reach out to media outlets. As part of a team s/he will handle day-to-day media relations on public policy and legislative topics that are a priority to the Alzheimer’s Association, as well as other areas of focus as needed. This person will establish and grow relationships with targeted media and develop and execute proactive media plans for specific initiatives. The senior specialist will work closely with Alzheimer’s Association spokespeople to ensure timely and accurate response to media members and forge productive working partnerships with staff throughout the Association, chapters, volunteers, partners and constituents.

 

The senior specialist is skilled in working independently as well as part of a team and is able to demonstrate initiative, professionalism and attention to detail. The ideal candidate has excellent instincts and judgment and contributes to the elevating and reinforcing the cause and the priorities of the Alzheimer’s Association.

The on board Togo navy guards exchanged fire with the pirates. Later a large skiff with eight to ten armed pirates was spotted leaving the daughter vessel and approaching the mother vessel. Seeing this, the Master instructed all crew members to retreat into the citadel and informed the Togo navy. The on board guards took the necessary action to prevent the pirates from boarding the vessel and in the meantime the Togo navy sent out two patrol boats for assistance which then escorted the vessel back to the anchorage. The pirates closed in to a distance of 60-70 metres and fired at the ship using automatic guns. At 0953 UTC, the pirates aborted the attack and moved away as the distance between ship and boat increased. No injuries to crew.
