Did you know that in 2001, there were more than 850,000 registered

501(c)3 nonprofit organizations in the U.S.? That number shot up to over one million in 2005. Now that is A LOT of nonprofits. Nonprofits that could use your help, that is!

The Glass Slipper Project http://www.glassslipperproject.org/ is

starting to plan for Prom 2007, our 10 year anniversary! With all the

growth we have had since our first year, we are well overdue for a

website overhaul. Since we are a non-profit organization, we are seeking

an individual or company who would be willing to donate design and

development services for our new website and volunteer registration.

2.) Event Volunteers, 2007 Florida Film Festival (Maitland, Fla.)

Each year the Florida Film Festival relies on the help from close to 200

volunteers, in every department. Whether you have years of experience or

are just joining us for the first time, we welcome your help and

support. Volunteers are needed before and during the 10-day Festival for

a variety of positions, weekdays and weekends, so you're sure to find a

slot that fits your schedule and interests.

Supporting a unique non-profit organization, gaining valuable experience

and meeting others who share an enthusiasm for film is what makes

volunteering at the Florida Film Festival all worthwhile. Being able to

participate in this event has proven to be a prized opportunity year

after year.

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to participate. All volunteers

(and staff) are required to attend the Mandatory

Orientation/Sign-Up/Training. This is your only opportunity to sign up

for shifts and learn exactly what is expected in each position. All

staff will be in attendance.

For returning volunteers this occurs: Saturday February 17, 2007

For new volunteers this occurs: Saturday February 24, 2007

Volunteers must choose shifts within particular TEAMS at a certain

VENUE.

Please read below to familiarize yourself with the options available.

-Team Marketing (Venues: HQ, Enzian Theater)

Assist with the final details of preparing and promoting the Festival.

Duties may include assembling packets, gift bags and other collateral;

clerical work, such as making copies and numbering vouchers;

distributing posters and flyers to various venues/neighborhoods;

monitoring press screenings; and surveying guests.

-Team Info (Venues: HQ, Enzian Theater, Regal Cinemas, Enzian satellite

office "Clay Street")

Team Info volunteers must be able to complete shifts BOTH before and

during the Festival. Excellent phone skills are required as well as

great patience and a love for interacting with people. You ll need to

have a flexible schedule in order to attend pre-festival screenings:

Final film transfers are screened by volunteers and staff to ensure

there are no technical glitches. This also serves to educate you about

many of the films, should guests ask. Members of Team Info are the first

impressions of the Festival at most times and should have an outgoing

personality and willingness to help guests.

-Team Filmmaker (Venue: HQ)

Shifts run before and during the Festival. Must be courteous, cheerful

and make filmmaker guests feel welcome. Checking filmmaker in: handing

out necessary credentials, walking them through their filmmaker packet

and verifying all their information. Also responsible for familiarizing

them with special events and the surrounding area. Help out with other

tasks/department as needed.

-Team Box (Venues: Regal Cinemas)

Preparing and numbering off-site tickets for daily show and guiding

guests towards the appropriate theater. Team box may also help sell

merchandise as needed.

-Team Theater (Venue: Enzian Theater, Regal Cinemas)

Responsible for taking tickets, counting the number of guests as they

enter the theater, checking badges for admission. Volunteer also helps

find seats for guests, directs them to the appropriate theater and

counts ballots after films. Important: At Enzian Theater, Team Theater

is also responsible for cleaning up the theater to turn it over for the

next show. This involves clearing/wiping tables and distributing menus

(gloves are always provided.)

-Team Event (Venue: Enzian Theater, special event locations)

Main duties are the SET-UP and BREAKDOWN of special events/parties.

Requires the ability to work well in large crowds, assertiveness as

necessary while being calm and friendly. You must be able/willing to

offer heavy lifting assistance as these duties involve such tasks as

moving tables, carrying cases of wine, setting up tents, etc. While this

isn t the most glamorous of the volunteer shifts- it is no less

important as help with events is extremely valuable to us. J If you are

3.) Business Analyst for Arts Program, Centro Nueva Creación

(Philadelphia)

Centro Nueva Creación's mission is to build hope in Fairhill and

surrounding neighborhoods by providing opportunities for youth and

families to transform their community. We fulfill this mission through

integrated programs in education, technology, and the arts.

The center operates an After-School Program, summer camp, and a

community photo arts program known as The Goodlands(r). This program

seeks to address the negative stereotype of North Philadelphia as "The

Badlands" and trains students to use a camera to convey their

neighborhood as they see it. Our goal is to harness the creative assets

of our youth and produce confident individuals with the ability to

succeed. We serve primarily Latino youth ages 6-13.

This position is ideal for an individual who wants to learn about

non-profit management. We hope to open a storefront in the near future

but much needs to be done to develop the potential of this program to

generate resources for the organization to be more self-sustaining. The

responsibilities of the Business Analyst include developing the

financial infrastructure to execute the business plan for

commercializing the Goodlands(r) program. This includes setting up the

computerized systems and the processes to track the program aspects.

development.

4.) Various PR, Event and Other Opportunities, Make a Wish Iowa (Various

Locations in Iowa)

The Make-A-Wish Foundation granted its first wish in Iowa in late 1985.

Our area committees are always accepting new volunteers and have a wide

variety of opportunities including wish granting (training required),

special event/fundraising, outreach, publicity/public relations,

volunteer recruitment, and much more. Our twelve area committees meet

monthly and are located in the following cities:

-Cedar Falls is a committee that is actively seeking new volunteers to

do wish granting, help with fundraisers and promote the Make-A-Wish

Foundation in the Cedar Valley area. If you would like to help in this

-The Mason City area committee participates in many activities. These

activities include granting wishes, holding their annual Wish Ride

-The Riverbend Committee welcomes volunteers from its coverage area: the

Francisco)

Volunteer opportunities abound at Under One Roof, located in the heart

of the Castro neighborhood in San Francisco! We have numerous

opportunities for people with all sorts of skills to contribute to the

fight against HIV/AIDS. You do not need prior experience in these areas

to volunteer and we give you a complete orientation prior to your first

day "on the job".

Since Under One Roof is a retail gift store, volunteer opportunities are

a great way for you to learn the retail business first hand while also

giving back and supporting those in need. Volunteering at Under One Roof

is also a great way to meet others who share your enthusiasm for the

cause and who like actively participating in their community.

7.) Marketing Intern, American Red Cross of Central Fla. (Orlando)

Description: Health and Safety Services is looking for a volunteer to

help support its marketing area. Responsibilities of the job are data

entry, phone calling, and assisting with direct-mail preparation for

ongoing projects. Good computer skills are a must (Excel & Word).

Knowledge of ACT 2000 is would be helpful. The time commitment is two 4

hour days per week, but can be flexible.

Requirements: The responsibilities of this position include assisting

with various marketing projects and promotional activities throughout

the community.

8.) Marketing Support, Prison Fellowship Ministries National Office

(Lansdowne, Va.)

Prison Fellowship (http://www.prisonfellowship.org) is a non-profit,

volunteer-reliant organization founded in 1976 by Chuck Colson. It is

focused on one overriding vision: that all those involved in and

directly impacted by crime will experience the grace and peace of Jesus

Christ. Prison Fellowship recruits, trains, and mobilizes volunteers

from a variety of denominations and backgrounds to participate in a wide

range of in-prison and community programs.

Opportunity: Work with Prison Fellowship Ministries' Marketing team to

coordinate the intake systems for the ministry's marketing projects.

10). PR and Marketing Volunteers, Friends of the Shelter (Hilliard,

Ohio)

Friends of the Shelter (www.friendsoftheshelter.info) is a nonprofit

group created exclusively to provide financial support for the medical,

educational and adoption programs of the Franklin County Dog Shelter,

which addresses the pet overpopulation problem and promotes responsible

pet ownership in our community.

Money raised by Friends of the Shelter is allocated to fund diagnostic,

medical/surgical, dental, grooming, and enrichment activities that

directly benefit the dogs of the Franklin County Dog Shelter. In

addition, Friends of the Shelter funds an innovative low cost spay and

neuter program, called The Fix.

Lidrosh Institute of Jewish Education was created in 1999 with a goal of

offering free Jewish education to all Jews regardless of age, gender,

Lidrosh Torah Audio, the premier free Jewish Educational Audio online

Md.)

Founded in 1995, NAVASA (http://www.navasa.org) is a national membership

agency currently comprised of 37 Mutual Assistance Associations and

community organizations. NAVASA'€™s mission is to improve social

and economic justice in Vietnamese communities nationwide.

To achieve this mission, NAVASA focuses on three key strategies: (1)

16.) Marketing/Fund Raising Campaign Volunteer (Kentucky Pediatric

Society (Frankfort, Ken.)

This volunteer opportunity is hosted by the Kentucky Pediatric Society

(KY Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics). The Chapter has

created newly established Foundation arm (501 c3) and is preparing to

raise funds for child heatlh programs in the state. A volunteer is

needed to work on marketing and/or fund raising projects (via mail

campaign).

Skills: Experience with developing mailing lists regarding fundraising

1.)Helpers, GoodDogz.org (Fairfax, Va.) is looking for volunteers to

help us with their annual Santa Paws event. This is a 4 hour event on

December 16 where people bring there dogs to take pictures with Santa.

We volunteers to help take organize attendees, collect money and aid in

printing pictures. This is a fun event and the only skills needed are

the love of animals and the willingness to help us in our fundraiser. We

are working to raise money to fund 2007 adoption events for our local

2.)Gift Wrappers, Fairygodmother Foundation (Chicago) Tap into the magic

of the holiday season by wrapping gifts on behalf of Fairygodmother

Foundation. Organize your family, friends, and co-workers and volunteer

to staff gift wrapping tables at downtown Chicago Borders, Barnes and

Nobles, Intercontinental Hotel Chicago, and Gurnee Mills Mall. Shifts

are 3-5 hours long and will need up to 5 volunteers depending on the

site. If volunteers are under 18, an adult must be present. This is a

perfect opportunity to spread a little holiday cheer, have tons of fun,

all while raising funds and awareness for Fairygodmother Foundation and

3.)Helpers, Madison County Humane Society (Madison, Va.). Volunteers

needed to help take pet photos on weekends during the month of December.

Help needed starting Dec. 9th at 3351 Jefferson Davis Highway,

4.)Volunteers, Eagleville Hospital (Eagleville, Penn.) - Volunteers are

needed to help prepare and serve meals on New Year's Day to patients in

substance abuse treatment facility. Volunteers will help with light food

preparation and cafeteria style line service. Shifts available are:

Breakfast: 6:30am - 9:00am, Lunch: 11:00am - 1:00pm, Dinner: 4:00pm -

5.)Holiday Help, Decatur Cooperative Ministry (Decatur, Ga.) - Decatur

Cooperative Ministry is a faith-based cooperative providing a continuum

of services for homeless and at-rsk families. Hagar's House is an

emergency night shelter for homeless women with children. We provide

private rooms for five families, two meals per day, homework help,

computer lab assistance, and case management.Every year around the

Holidays we need extra volunteers to do a variety of tasks around our

shelter! This year, you can have the opportunity to spend time at

Hagar's House on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. We

need volunteers who would be willing to take a shift on one of those

days and spend time with the families in our shelter. We will have a

training in the middle of December to inform volunteers or their role

6.)Resolution Run 5k Run and Walk (Baltimore) - United Ministries is

holding a 5K run and walk, The Resolution Run, on New Year's Day in

Patterson Park to benefit Earl's Place transitional housing program.

Volunteers are needed for a variety of duties including registration,

course marshalls and split timers to guide the runners, assist at the

finish line, serve refreshments. A brief training will be provided

7.)Volunteers, Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County (Penn.) seeks volunteers

to pick up decorated table-top Christmas trees at LV Hospital and

deliver them to clients Dec 8. Volunteers are also needed to pick up

gifts at Trinity Baptist Church and deliver to clients in early Dec.

Airplane Restoration Associate, Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, (NYC)

We are in need of qualified airplane mechanics, spray painters and those

just interested in aviation and the preservation of our important

collection of airplanes and helicopters. Your help will assist in

creating one of the best collections of museum airplanes. Mechanical

aptitude very helpful and interest in working on historic aircraft. You

will be working with plexi-glass replacement, preparing planes for

painting, repairing and riveting metal, cleaning and restoring cockpits

and instruments for helicopters, propeller and jet powered planes.
