These are part-time positions ranging from 8 to 16 hours during the fall football season, and up to 20 hours during the winter basketball season, though there is a possibility that some positions could shift to full-time hours during the basketball season. The newspersons will be required to write, edit and re-write stories on college football and basketball and related topics, including high school athletics. The positions are temporary, beginning Aug. 19 until March 16. Qualifications: Candidates should have an interest in sports, and college or professional journalism experience. Good communication skills, and attention to detail and accuracy and an ability to juggle multiple tasks are required. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English language is required. Authorization to work in the United States for any employer is mandatory. During routine rounds the crew on board a tug towing a barge transiting Singapore Straits noticed vessel’s properties missing from the barge.

 

135-13  09.06.2013: 2015 LT: Posn: 04:30N – 103:59E, Around 30nm east of Kerteh, Terengganu, Malaysia.

 

Six pirates armed with guns and long knives in a speed boat approached and boarded a tug underway. They took hostage all crew members, cut off the cables to the VHF communication system and stole crew and ship’s cash and properties. When the pirates departed, Master contacted the local authorities and then diverted to Kuantan port and lodged a report to the Malaysian authorities. All crew safe.

 

134-13  17.06.2013: 1930 LT: Posn: 04:31N – 113:52E, About 8 to 10 pirates armed with long knives in a speed boat approached and boarded a product tanker underway. The pirates were aggressive and beat most of the crew and tied up their hands. The Master’s left palm was severely cut while the C/O and C/Eng also suffered minor cuts. The pirates cut the communication cables and then ransacked the bridge and accommodation. They stole crew and ship’s properties and cash before leaving the ship after an hour. Vessel diverted to Miri port to provide medical assistance to the injured crew. A police report was lodged.

 

133-13  20.06.2013: 0530 LT: Posn: 01:09.3N – 103:38.4E, Nipah Transit Anchorage, Indonesia.

 

Five robbers armed with knives boarded an anchored LPG Tanker. Two robbers entered the engine room while the remaining tried to break into the provision stores. On seeing the mess man entering the provision store area one robber caught him and threatened him with a knife while the others escaped. Alarm sounded and on investigating it was found that engine spares were stolen. All crew safe
