*** From my friend, Steve DeCollibus in North Kingstown, RI:
I voted today, then went to the veterans cemetery to visit with my father in-law, a world war two hero who is at rest there. As I stood contemplating the past, a funeral cortege approached, bringing with it another brave soldier from Rhode Island who had lost his life in Iraq.
Then it occurred to me that freedom was a dream that they had given me.
A precious dream that I have been allowed to live because of them and all the other soldiers and military men and woman who have fought to keep the dream of democracy alive in America and now the world. Then I thought what an incredible thing this dream is and that its price has been dear. Tomorrow this election will be over, but democracy will continue as long as we believe in it enough to not lose it.
Then I when I got home I opened this email forwarded to me by my brother and thought I would drop you folks a note.
Steve
*** We are halfway through the Marcus Evans Sea Shield Conference. I'm finding very interesting. I challenged the delegates to find one thing they didn't know about and share it with somebody who wasn't in attendance. I learned about the E-2 Hawkeye, which is now in it's 46th year of service (I think), with new and vastly improved Hawkeyes still being produced. The Hawkeye used to be the lookout at 25,000 feet. Now think of the Hawkeye as the server and modem/router for the strike group's wireless network at 25,000 feet.
