Roles and Responsibilities.

JOB INFORMATION
Key leader on internal communications team charged with enhancing employee communications and increasing employee engagement through existing and new mediums. Serves as a strategic advisor and key relationship manager to clients in establishing priorities, achieving business goals, and implementing best-in-class communications and/or marketing strategies. Clients may be internal corporate stakeholders, media or customer facing business leaders. Coordinate strategy and lead, plan and direct the work of a cross-functional team to drive communications and/or marketing initiatives and deliver quantifiable results to support corporate priorities.
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS
- Oversees and manages the development and implementation of communication and/or marketing strategies to support the company’s products and services. Serves as a day-to-day lead between CoMS group and business area management, providing strategic counsel and implementation support of communications and/or marketing strategies and initiatives. Monitors client satisfaction and proactively addresses any client issues.
- Able to identify, understand and resolve client issues. Thinks creatively and provides strategic solutions. Builds client commitment and engagement around strategy.
- Adds value and creates impact for clients. Establishes a trusted advisor relationship with clients and is considered a strategic partner in achieving partners’ business goals and objectives.
- Collaborates both within own group and across divisions to deliver consultative, strategic solutions to clients.
- If managing staff, coaches and mentors subordinates to achieve performance goals that are aligned with division and company goals. Identifies career development opportunities for direct reports. Responsibilities

• Implement optimization code – including Title tags, Alt tags, Image tags and meta descriptions – that have been provided by the hotel’s’ search agency
• Manage presence on listing sites and acquire inbound links from local/regional sites
• Work with DOSM to Manage the properties online advertising efforts including; display advertising, ad networks, paid directory inclusions etc. in consultation with the corporate internet marketing team and/or the hotel search agencies, leverage advertising and marketing programs
• Coordinate email campaigns executed through the Campaign team at Fairmont Corporate office.
• Assist in the production of print collateral and mkg materials for internal and external selling and promotions
• Provide the Executive Team and other appropriate stakeholders with monthly reporting summaries using vendor reports and property reporting systems
• Participate in monthly Internet Marketing calls to discuss new initiatives and share best practices.
• Facilitate public relations responsibilities alongside the Director of Sales and Marketing including but not limited to media visits, press kits, online enhancement of press material and photography.
• Responsibilities as needed daily including phone interaction and special projects
• Develop communication strategies and execute public relations programs within the hotel and local/regional/national/international markets as appropriate
• Develop and maintain an issues awareness program and crisis communication program
• Serve as a key contact in the hotel for the media, industry partners and the community
• Act as spokesperson for the hotel and as a member of the crisis management team
• Assist sales, rooms and food & beverage in creating promotional programs with media outlets (radio, print, television)
• Work with sales and food & beverage to provide creative input and partnership contacts for packages and promotion development for leisure and business travelers and promote these programs to appropriate audiences
• Continually feed Corporate PR and Agencies with news and update PR newsroom
• Develop and build positive relationships with media and industry partners in key markets
• Create promotional events that assist non-profit groups within the community, while raising the profile of both the hotel and the brand. Keep track of all property donations.
• Coordinate joint regional and national promotional opportunities with other Fairmont properties
• Leverage participation in national corporate public relations initiatives to support brand awareness both locally and nationally.
• Maintain an up-to-date photo and video library, including a photographic record of all media and special events
• Conduct individual and media familiarization trips as necessary. Work with tourism and airline partners where appropriate
• Active participation on hotel Colleague committees, including The Green Team and Service Plus. Champion philanthropic partnerships and promote environmental and social initiatives
• Submit monthly media measurements reports to Corporate Office and General Manager
• Submit content and ideas for Dialogue, Fairmont’s Colleague Newsletter,
• Create and manage annual PR budget
Qualifications:
• Knowledge of search engine optimization practices also an asset
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills a must
• Flexible, results-oriented, decision-maker, positive, multi tasked, self-motivated, strong initiative.
• Ability to travel and work flexible hours and days
• Proven ability to create partnerships within industry and community
• Strong computer literacy, especially with Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel
• Familiarity with Microsoft Content Management tool or other content management platforms, a plus

Four skiffs with around six persons in each skiff approached an oil tanker underway from the port bow, mid-ships and astern. Master raised alarm, took anti piracy measures, informed UKMTO and all non essential crew retreated to the citadel. Onboard armed security team fired warning shots resulting in the skiffs stopping the approach at a distance of around four cables from the vessel. Ladder and RPG sighted in the approaching skiffs. A warship was deployed to the location for assistance.
