  • Manage social media presence and day-to-day efforts, including online advocacy, community-outreach initiatives and promotions.

• In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and their respective participants.

Featuring nearly 867,000 acres across 26 counties, hundreds of miles of clear-running streams and rivers, approximately 850 miles of recreation trails, and dozens of campgrounds, picnic areas, and other recreation activity opportunities, these lands are rich in natural scenery, history and culture. The mission of the USDA Forest Service is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the nation’s forests and grasslands to meet the needs of present and future generations. The Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests is part of the Southern Region, with the Forest Supervisor’s office managing four District units in Blairsville (Blue Ridge District), Lakemont (Chattooga River District), Chatsworth (Conasauga District), and Eatonton (Oconee District).

 

The Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests public affairs intern is expected to have a high level of experience with social media, and be able to think strategically and see how social media fits into a marketing strategy. The intern must be able to assist in formulating social media plans and then carry them out with direction of the Public Affairs team. S/he must be able to measure and document the impact of social media, and then suggest action-steps to increase impact.Specific tasks include:

•Researches, understands and follows Forest Service social media policies and guidelines

•Monitors USDA and Forest Service social media accounts (Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, Facebook, blog, etc.)

•Helps to tell our story by developing strategic marketing plans, including characteristics and needs of the target audiences, communication techniques most appropriate, and recommended approaches

•Works with the Public Affairs team to write and post feature articles, blogs, tweets, etc.

•Tracks growth and impact of social media efforts

•Shoots and edits videos to USDA standards, uploads videos

•Photographs sites and events on the forest, edits photos, catalogues and tags photos, creates metadata, uploads photos

•Contributes content for forest website including photos, videos and written articles

•Explores new ways to connect with young audiences

•Reaches out to diverse, minority and urban audiences

•Seeks out opportunities to partner in existing programs and projects, leveraging Forest Service resources

 

Skills and attributes interns are expected to have:

•Excellent written communication skills

•Creative!

•Interest in the outdoors, the national forest and conservation issues

•Extensive knowledge of social media –Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, blogs, etc.

•Ability to develop a marketing plan using a standard process and template as provided

•Knowledge of digital media software – Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom are pluses

•Knowledge of video editing software – Premiere Elements is a plus

•Willingness to create blogs, write press releases, create videos, and post tweets daily

•Energy, with a desire to come up with fresh ideas

SUMMARY

 

The Cline Group is hiring an energetic and creative team member to act as a Public Relations Account Executive. As one of the team’s primary media arms, you will be responsible for securing consistent high-quality media opportunities in various types of outlets.

 

In your role as a Public Relations Account Executive, you will be expected to multitask across multiple client accounts and projects under tight deadlines, directly manage day to day team activities and supervise and mentor junior level team members. It is important that you have an in depth understanding of digital content and how social media plays into the larger scope of PR and Marketing.

 

The ideal person for this position is someone who displays exceptional verbal and written communication skills, quickly grasps new technologies and account duties and has experience adding strategic value to client interactions.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

– Outstanding writing and editing skills

– Strong media relations and social media skills

– Understanding of holistic approach to marketing

– 1-3 years of marketing, PR and communications experience in an agency

– Exceptional project-management skills are a must

– New business and presentation experience preferred

– High-tech, and life-science experience preferred

– Experience or an academic background in business and marketing is a plus

– Desire to learn and excel within the agency

The Director of Marketing & Communications has two major responsibilities.

•             First, he or she designs and carries out communication programs to build and sustain awareness of the Foundation’s benefits among donors, potential donors, attorneys and other advisors, nonprofit organizations, and civic and opinion leaders throughout Central New Jersey.

•             Second, he or she supports colleagues in the Development, Donor Services, and Grants & Programs departments by creating communication materials that help them achieve their goals.

ResponsibiLities

General Overview

•             Understand, advocate for, and work in support of the Community Foundation’s mission

•             In consultation with the Communications Committee and staff, develop and update an annual communication plan and budget, proposing and describing communication strategies that will reach and influence the Foundation’s audiences

Publications

•             Write, edit, and produce the annual report and monthly  e-newsletters

•             Develop marketing materials for colleagues in Development, Donor Services, and Grants & Programs

Web Site

•             Create and control content on the website, including the Community Foundation Blog

•             Monitor and document web analytics

Media Relations

•             Develop relationships with local media to stimulate coverage of the Foundation and its activities

•             Generate and optimize opportunities to position the Community Foundation advantageously through timely comment or reaction to current events

•             Work with grantees and press to ensure appropriate media recognition of Foundation grants

•             Develop press releases, stories, and articles to promote the Foundation’s work in the region

•             Seek opportunities for, and promote, speaking engagements for Foundation staff and board

Events

•             Work with Foundation staff to publicize events

•             Prepare marketing materials, as needed

Other

•             Oversee Foundation graphic and editorial standards

Experience and Knowledge

•             At least five years experience in public relations, communications, marketing

•             Team player

•             Superior writing and editing skills

•             Energy, integrity, judgment, discretion, maturity, creativity, flexibility

•             Self-directed problem-solver with strong customer service orientation

•             Proven ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously

•             Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-up

•             Technology proficiency, experience communicating electronically

•             Familiarity with website content management systems and blogging platforms (WordPress)
