***  The position descriptions and or follow up information on links to the jobs can be found at www.nedsjotw.com.

***  Posting a job is free.    Recruiters can submit up to three jobs for free.  Each job listing may be posted once in the newsletter for free

I request that you do not send pdf files that I have to copy and reformat.  I prefer you provide your very brief job description in an email rather than an enclosure.  Please limit the size of your position descriptions (generally to 500 words or less).  “Can’t Wait” blast email priority listings are $300, and “Top Job” placement is $100.
***  This is a cooperative service.  It relies on your participation and contribution.  As you receive the benefit of this free newsletter, you should also send in jobs you learn about.  This is especially the case when there are job listings in the companies that you work for.

35.)  Tenure-track Assistant Professor of Journalism University of Minnesota Duluth, Duluth, MN

The journalism program at the University of Minnesota Duluth seeks to add a tenure track assistant professor beginning in August 2015. Our preferred candidate is one whose research and teaching interests focus on multiplatform journalism and, more specifically, on digital storytelling, broadcast and shooting and editing of video. We are searching for a candidate who can complement our existing program and who has a vision for its growth and expansion.

Our required qualifications include a terminal degree or advanced ABD status in journalism or related field with doctorate to be conferred by July 1, 2015, minimum one year of college teaching experience in journalism or related field (graduate TA experience acceptable), demonstrated ability to produce tenurable quality material in area of specialty, and excellent communication skills. Our preferred candidate has professional experience working in broadcast and digital storytelling production.

The journalism program is one of the fastest growing in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD). We are looking at ways of expanding how we research and teach in the areas of broadcast, online and digital storytelling. We offer excellent start-up packages to provide resources and time needed to conduct quality research. Our students work at the award-winning campus newspaper, The Statesman, and run a community-based publication, LakeVoicenews.org. Many are also employed at the region’s broadcast television stations and other media outlets.

The Duluth area is a four-season tourist destination, providing excellent entertainment, fine restaurants, arts programs and outdoor activities. We have miles of mountain bike trails and cross country ski trails, beautiful lakes and forests, all situated around a small metropolitan area of 150,000 people. Duluth is a progressive community with an excellent quality of life (won Outside Magazine’s Best Outside City Competition in 2014).

The University of Minnesota requires that you apply online for this position.  For a complete position description and information on how to apply online, visit https://employment.umn.edu/applicants/Central?quickFind=124931.
