The International and American Associations for Dental Research, two

501(c)3 individual membership-based associations based in Alexandria, VA, seeks a highly accomplished and collaborative meetings professional to be Director of Meetings. The IADR has an annual General Session (~5,000 delegates) held outside the United States every other year. When the IADR is outside the US, there is an AADR annual meeting (~3,500

delegates) in the same year. In addition there are smaller meetings to

manage: an international prevention congress (~500 delegates every 4 years), an AADR Fall Symposium (~100 delegates annually). Finally our Regions and Division around the world require limited technical assistance in hosting their own meetings.

The director is responsible for the logistics of the scientific program, ancillary meetings, the exhibits and official social events. The director supervises the work of two full-time employees; the Program Manager and the Awards, Grants and Exhibits Manager and is also responsible for engaging and supervising any third-party vendors used to provide services to and for the meetings (decorators, AV, etc.). The person in this position should be knowledgeable and able to advise about

future meeting formats, including, but not limited to Webcasts, hybrid meetings, e-posters, electronic capture of meetings for simultaneous broadcast, and archiving meetings for future access.

Requirements

* Four year Bachelor’s Degree or higher; CMP preferred.

* The position requires at least five (5) years of domestic and international association meeting planning and exhibition experience, strong demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, collaborative skills, detail-oriented, and strong organizational and supervisory skills.

* Contracting knowledge and experience.

* Extensive travel is required, both domestic and international (valid passport required at time of interview).
